Board of Directors
Roles & Responsibilities
The Board of Directors of Rocky’s Raiders serves as the cornerstone of our organizational governance, providing the strategic vision and expert oversight necessary to fulfill our commitment to veterans. As a collective body, the Board is responsible for establishing the mission-critical objectives that drive our efforts in the Upper Mississippi Valley. Each member accepts a profound commitment to the individuals we serve, ensuring that every veteran facing housing insecurity has access to a dedicated support network.
Directors are charged with the high-level management of Rocky’s Raiders, steering the organization through growth and ensuring its long-term sustainability. This role demands a proactive approach to solving complex challenges, from navigating legal requirements to fostering deep community relationships. By serving on the Board, individuals pledge their time, talent, and resources to build a legacy of honor and service for those who served our nation.
Governance & Fiduciaries
Board members are legally and ethically bound by the Duty of Care, Duty of Loyalty, and Duty of Obedience in all organizational matters. Fiduciary responsibilities include the rigorous oversight of financial reports, the approval of an annual budget, and the ensuring of fiscal transparency to donors and the public. Members must act in the best interest of Rocky’s Raiders at all times, avoiding conflicts of interest and maintaining the confidentiality of organizational data.
Strategic governance involves regular participation in board meetings, voting on policy changes, and evaluating the performance of the ongoing programs. Directors must ensure that the organization operates in full compliance with state and federal laws governing nonprofit entities. Through diligent oversight of our relief funds and operational expenditures, the Board guarantees that our resources are maximized to prevent veteran homelessness and property loss.
Member Terms & Expectations
Directors are expected to serve a minimum two-year term, with the possibility of renewal based on participation and impact. Beyond attendance at quarterly board meetings, members must serve on at least one standing committee and dedicate approximately 5-10 hours per month to organizational business. As a founding board, members are also expected to take an active role in external outreach, representing Rocky’s Raiders at community events and building partnerships with local veteran service organizations.
Personal contribution is a core expectation; each director is required to make a significant personal annual donation of funds or time, or secure equivalent funding through external fundraising and sponsorships. This 'give-or-get' policy ensures our leadership is fully invested in the success of our veteran housing programs.
